Taking care of SELF first
"The Ultimate YOU"
by Beryl Allport, Life Coach, MCC, TRC

The perception of giving to, or doing for, self as being selfish is long gone. No longer can we sell our souls at our own expense. Taking care of SELF first is no longer a ‘should’, it is ESSENTIAL.

When I first met Caroline she realized that she had not been giving herself enough care – everyone and everything else came first. Even though she was, and is, extremely successful in many areas of her life, this one key value may have caused some of her health issues.

Let’s face it, if we are a perfectionist or think we are infallible and push ourselves to stressful limits without thinking about self needs first, and our health goes and it is impossible to have a quality in other areas of our lives.

Whether you are just beginning or, like Caroline, are moving into the maintenance phase of the “Ultimate You”, I would like to suggest some awareness and action steps on the path to life.

Has putting self care as #1 paid off for Caroline? Look at her now and she’s just beginning!! Inner fulfillment and joy have allowed her to give to others at work, in relationships, with family. You must first love for yourself and then you can give and share it with others.

Life must have purpose, passion and energy to move forward. If you want more out of life you need to change old habits and patterns. Your decisions and results come from your deeply imbedded beliefs that take over any logical decisions. It is necessary to work on changing the beliefs or hidden roots in order to grow fresh produce to show the external world.

To begin, or maintain new intentions, start with a solid foundation for self and systematically build a structure that becomes your ultimate you. Know WHO you really are, discover your dreams, set some personal goals in place, take the necessary action steps and acknowledge self every step of the journey.

Here are 7 essential “C” can-do categories to achieving your success, do them with passion and purpose: Clarity, Commitment, Consistency, Confidence, Control, Completion, and Celebration.

As a Life Coach with a whole-life approach to self achievement, my goal and purpose is to help you reach yours. When will you take the steps necessary? Why not sign an agreement with your SELF (and date it), re ways you commit to connecting with, and caring for, your SELF. Then, write down (and tell somebody) the Steps and Dates of completion. Finally, -------- celebrate being your own ULTIMATE YOU!

"If you are standing on the edge of a cliff ----------- know that you CAN fly! Each of you has the power to be your own ULTIMATE YOU."
