Opening the 8 Gates of Wisdom "When you have the courage to change at mid-life, a miracle happens," teaches Angeles Arrien, cultural anthropologist and award-winning author of the book, The Second Half of Life. "Your character is opened, deepened, strengthened, softened. You return to the soul's highest values. You are now prepared to create your legacy – an imprint of your dream for our world – a dream that can fully come true in The Second Half of Life." This is an invitation to women (40+) who are interested in becoming wise mentors, stewards and active participants in living, loving, and learning through all the stages of the Second Half of Life. Whether you are entering this potent time, deeply in it, or in the latter stages, it will be a time of deep discovery, recovery and creativity. Each month draws on the wisdom of one of the 8 Gates. Exploring these gates in a focused group offers us rich resources in understanding. Every gathering offers discussion, inquiry, meditation, movement and an invocation to the next gate. We explore the theme during the month and take time to reflect on the surprises, challenges, inspirations and insights received. Going through each gate you will deepen your most valuable relationships, reclaim your untended creative talents and shift your focus from ambition to meaning to grow into the exceptional elder you’ve always imagined you would one day become. Some of the themes include: facing the unknown, changing identities, discovering one’s true face, intimacy, creativity, service, authenticity, non-attachment and surrender. 9 Sundays: 1-3 p.m. West end Ottawa on the 3rd Sunday of the month March to November.
